The meaning of FRAN(A) in the OLB

This was also posted in the forum, on june 21.

To examine the meaning of the word FRANA (or FRÁNA), other than the name, I took the eight fragments and added both Ottema's and Sandbach's translation (with some corrections, improvements or suggestions added).

In the overview below it becomes clear that "vroom" in some cases is actually a reasonable translation, and at least as close to the original word as possible. The current meaning in Dutch is "pious", but originally the meaning seems to have been something like "sacred", "holy" or "devout".

FRANA = sacred, holy, devout, pious
(is this the root-word for FRANCE???)

FOLGATH J MIN RÉD

Volgt gij mijn raad,
[if you] Follow my advice,
then she will hereafter remain my servant [Fam]
as well as all the sacred maidens [devout Fams] who succeed her.

2. [032/01] (original manuscript; page/line)
THÀT WORD ÉWA IS TO FRÁN VMBE AN MÉNA SÉKA TO NOMANDE
[O+S p.47] (translations Ottema & Sandbach)
The word 'Eva' is too sacred for common use

3. [038/16]

They appointed priestesses [(Fams)] under their own care,
who were apparently under the protection
of Festa, our first Eeremoeder [Mother-of-Honor],
to watch over the holy lamp [sacred light]

but the priests,
who were all-powerful among their own people,
would not permit it,
and accused us before the people of being unholy

5. [135/27]
MEN THA LÀFA SKIN.FRÁNA PRESTARA

[O+S p.185]
Maar de laffe schijnvrome priesters

but the cowardly hypocritical [(pseudo-pious)] priests
could not suffer this

FRÁNA SKIN ÀND VNRJUCHTA PLÉGA.

ÀND SKIL ÁK VR VSA LANDA KVMA

[O+S p.191]
This doctrine, which requires the priests
to possess no further knowledge than to speak deceitfully,
and to pretend to be pious while acting unjustly,
[pious appearances (?) and unjust habits]
spreads from east to west,
and will come to our land[-s] also

7. [162/14]

Deze vlam zal alle slechte vorsten verteeren
en alle schijnvrome en smerige priesters
that flame will destroy all bad princes
and [all] hypocritical [(pseudo-pious)] [and] dirty priests

8. [163/20]
ÉL FERE ÁSTWARTH IS NOCH.NE GRÁTE RUN.STRÁME
THER HÉLIGE JEFTHA FRÁNA GONG.GÁ HÉTEN

[O+S p.223]
Heel verre oostwaarts is nog eene groote rivier,
de heilige of vrome Ganges geheeten
Far away to the eastward is another large river,
the Holy or Sacred Ganges
